Now that the dust has settled a little and the Committee has received all the well deserved accolades I think that this is a good time to point out some matters of importance re next year's Warclouds.
The Committee may or may not be aware that Warclouds 2011 will be the last big New Zealand competition before the IWF World Individual Championship ( historical only, sorry ) being held in Wellington, starting February 24th.
go to the link below and take a look.
http://www.iwf2011.com/
Competitors at the IWF World Champs will be competing in Ancients, ( DBA , DBMM, DBM and FoG are all under consideration ),
Renaissance ( DBR and maybe FoGR are under consideration)
WWII ( Flames of War is under consideration).
I would suggest the Warclouds 2011 could host several of these historical systems.
Renaissance, There is a small but active group of players in Christchurch, note all the Harquebusiers and Hussars run over the last couple of years, with some definite World Champ Starters.
Say 4+ Registrations.
Ancients, DBA, A large group in Timaru very active, bound to be some going to the Worlds and a small but active Christchurch group.
Say 6+ Registrations
Ancients, FoG, Christchurch has a large following of this system, 10 registered at Warclouds this year, Many will be going to the Worlds so with some from Wellington, Nelson, Ashburton and who knows where else, say 20 + Registrations.
WWII, Flames has a large South Island following, see last Conquest as a starting point, and will attract many players
Say 20 + Registrations
Well that is 50 + registrations before all the other systems are added.
Warclouds 2011 could be HUGE if you get out and market it early.
Start in October so that Northerners can book cheap air tickets
Just my thoughts on how the Club could help gamers train up for the Worlds and also make some dosh for spending on Club facilities etc. _________________ The five elements of being a Great Warlord

A small clarification.
FOGR has not been released. 15mm DBR is on offer at the IWC in 2011. It is worth noting that FOG Napoleonics, FOG Seven Years War, FOG World War II, FOG Moderns and FOG Star Wars have also not been released. |
